What We Do

We handle every stage of commercial concrete work — from initial ground preparation through to structural completion. Our team manages projects across retail, industrial, education, healthcare, hospitality, and civil infrastructure.

Structural Concrete

Columns, beams, floor slabs, and load-bearing walls. We pour and finish structural concrete to engineering specifications for multi-storey commercial buildings across New Zealand.

Foundations & Ground Works

Pad footings, strip footings, raft slabs, and driven piles. We work across soil conditions from Auckland clay to Canterbury gravels, adapting our approach to the ground.

Precast & Tilt-Up

Factory-cast panels, architectural precast, and tilt-up wall systems. Precast construction reduces on-site time and delivers a consistent, high-quality finish.

Seismic & Remedial

Seismic strengthening, earthquake repairs, and structural remediation. We help building owners meet NBS compliance requirements and protect their assets long-term.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of commercial concrete work does NZ Concrete Group carry out?
We cover the full scope of commercial concrete construction — foundations, structural concrete, on-site precast and tilt-up panels, retaining walls, seismic strengthening, and civil works. We work across retail, industrial, office, hospitality, and infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand.
Do you work on commercial projects throughout New Zealand?
Yes. Our crews are based in the Waikato and deploy nationwide. We have completed commercial concrete projects in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, and across regional New Zealand. We also deploy specialist teams to Australia.
What is the difference between on-site precast and tilt-up construction?
Both methods involve forming and pouring concrete panels on site. Tilt-up panels are cast flat on the building's floor slab and then tilted vertically into place by crane — the fastest method for large single-storey industrial and warehouse buildings. Other precast elements are formed in casting beds or forms and craned into position. All our precast work is done on site — no factory, no transport delays.
Can NZ Concrete Group work alongside our existing structural engineer?
Absolutely. We regularly work with client-appointed structural engineers and architects. We provide detailed shop drawings and forming plans, coordinate connection details, and attend design meetings as required. Early involvement helps optimise the forming sequence and avoid costly redesign.
How do you handle seismic requirements on commercial projects?
All structural concrete is designed and placed to NZS 3101 — the New Zealand Concrete Structures Standard. Our engineers and crews have extensive experience with seismic design detailing, including ductile connections, confinement reinforcing, and capacity-design principles. We also carry out seismic strengthening on existing buildings.
Do you offer fixed-price contracts for commercial concrete work?
We offer both fixed-price and schedule-of-rates contracts depending on the scope and certainty of the project. For well-documented scopes, fixed-price is straightforward. For complex or staged projects, schedule-of-rates often provides better value for both parties. Contact us with your plans for an honest proposal.
How long does a typical commercial concrete project take?
It depends heavily on scope. A standard industrial slab might take two to three weeks from mobilisation to completion. A multi-storey structural concrete package could run three to six months. We provide realistic programme estimates during the tender process — we don't understate timelines to win work.
